Chester City Passion was planned to take place on the historic streets of Chester on Good Friday. The story of Jesus' last days on earth were to be played out by a community company to an expected audience of thousands. As with every public event of this kind, Chester City Passion was yet another casualty of covid-19.

In isolation, musicians and singers from that company joined with members of the highly acclaimed Chester Mystery Plays 2018 company in the preparation of this song. Adam Lay Ybounden was composed by Matt Baker, and was first performed in Chester's glorious Cathedral during the most recent cycle of the Chester Mystery Plays in June and July of 2018.

This online piece was commissioned for a citywide online event, organised by Link Up to mark Pentecost. It was produced by Sian Peters and co-ordinated by Laurence Noble.
