Transform some lives…

Our Mission

Our mission is to transform lives through theatre and music. We continually strive to be a leading creator of new and quality music theatre, producing work with professional artists and communities, and in doing so making a lasting contribution to all those involved.

We believe that music and theatre can transform lives – hence our aim is to make a fundamental and lasting contribution to the communities in which we live and work.

Theatre in the Quarter empowers individuals and communities to find their voices as creators and performers, and build their self-confidence. We are passionate about nurturing and developing talent and skills, particularly with young people.

Chester Giants
  • By working in communities (e.g. schools and youth clubs in ‘hard to reach’ communities), giving people a taste, sign-posting them to new activities, creating opportunity and aspiration.
  • By giving young people the chance to express themselves through devising creating and performing theatre.
  • By creating the opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to work alongside professional artists.
  • By taking people out of their usual environments, e.g. giving the young girl on the estate the chance to perform alongside professional artists in places like Chester Cathedral, Manchester Piccadilly Station or Hampton Court Palace.
TiQ Kids
  • Young people from schools and youth clubs in hard to reach communities, across the borough and beyond.
  • Young people who we attract to our youth theatre groups.

TiQ bring theatre to the Streets

Why sponsor us?

Our challenge is to sustain and grow our work in a climate where public funding is increasingly limited and certainly no longer guaranteed.

Theatre in the Quarter has an impressive legacy of making an impact on many people’s lives through the work we create together. We have achieved this for over a decade on limited funding from Arts Council England, local authority and other trusts. There is a real appetite for our work to continue and grow, reaching out to people of all ages and backgrounds right through to emerging and thriving professional artists.

TiQ engages over 4,000 people a year in meaningful theatre activity, and reaches over 20,000 a year. We are passionate about wanting this impact to continue, and with your financial support we can.

Told through the eyes of a nine year old boy and his parents, 'A story about George' highlights the impact that leading theatre company Theatre in the Quarter has had on this little boy's life and his hopes and dreams for a better future.
